|We are living in a time of "deep water". Isaiah
11:9 (NIV) says, "… for the earth will be full of the
knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea."
Never before in the history of man has the knowledge of the
LORD been so disseminated as it is this very day. Yes,
there are still many, many people that have not heard the
Good News, but never has there been such a global
communication of the Gospel as is taking place right now.
What started off as a trickle has turned into a river that
cannot be crossed. Revival is taking place all over
the world as a mighty out-pouring of God is taking place.
All "kinds" of people need living water. Ez. 46: 10 says,
"…The fish will be of many kinds…" God wants us to
catch many kinds of "fish," which means we need many kinds
of nets. Neighborhood churches, urban missions, house
meetings, Crisis Pregnancy Centers, foreign missions,
over-seas humanitarian ministries, and so forth. Lots
of different nets to catch all kinds of "fish." One
"kind" of net is insufficient for "all kinds" of fish.
So why are some nets bursting with fish and others come up
empty? As all good fishermen know, you have to fish
where the fish live!
Ez. 47:9 (NIV) says, "… There will be large numbers of fish,
because this water flows there and makes the salt water
fresh; so where the river flows everything will live."
People are dying all around us because their environment is
spiritually poisonous. If you take a fresh water fish
and put it in salt water it will die. People are dying
spiritually and morally because the place in which they live
is polluted with sin and we, the true believers, are not
letting the rivers of life flow out of us. Jesus said in
John 7:38 (NIV) , "Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture
has said, streams of living water will flow from within
People are suffering because we keep shutting off the valve.
Maybe it's from false compassion - "I don't want to offend
anyone." Maybe it's from fear - "If I say anything
I'll lose my job." Maybe it's from a misunderstanding
of God - "I'm too busy working for the kingdom!" This
lack of flow is caused by many reasons but none of the
reasons are acceptable.
Ez. 47:11 (NIV) says, "But the swamps and marshes will not
become fresh; they will be left for salt." Marshes are
places where salt water and fresh water mingle. If we
stop the flow of living water in our lives, in our families,
in our churches, we are going to let the world flow into
those places and mingle with us. There are way too
many "Christian" swamps and marshes in the world.
Some churches have become a swamp-land of death, choked
by the cares of this life. By compromising God's Word,
we are stopping the flow and mixing salt water with fresh.
How can we expect people to come into our churches and be
healed if we are bringing them into a toxic environment?
But this text assures us that if we let the living water
flow from us then there will be swarms of fish all around us
just waiting to be caught! This is how revival starts.
As we allow God to use us and He flows through us and begins
touching people around us, a great miracle occurs.
Life! New life. People are Born Again. So,
praise God, let's let it flow!
